Several months ago, soon after joining CTMH, I participated in a challenge over at Heart 2 Heart Challenges. With all of the incredibly talented ladies playing, I was pleasantly surprised when my card was selected for Friday Five. I wasn’t able to participate in the following challenges for various reasons…namely school started up again….busy, busy, busy. I’ve been itching for a while to try another challenge, so I made a point of making a card today after getting home from school.
This week’s challenge is to create something for Halloween or something with pumpkins (for those of us who don’t celebrate Halloween…thanks H2H for thinking of us). When I first read this challenge, I thought, “Oh fiddle faddle…I’m not going to be able to do this one.” I don’t own any pumpkin stamps yet. But after my initial doubt and thinking about how I could create a pumpkin out of a something that wasn’t a pumpkin, it finally dawned on me. I have a binder full of old paper piecing patterns…I found a pumpkin pattern by a company called “Star Gazer Patterns” (I don’t think their in business anymore.) Then I started wondering what papers I could use….well, duh! My Olivia papers would be perfect! I traced and cut out the pattern pieces, then sponged the edges with Sunset Exclusive ink. I then spritzed the pieces with water and wadded them up. After gently unwading, I lightly sponged Cocoa Exclusive ink over the edges and some of the wrinkles. Finally, I lightly sanded the pieces with the block from the CTMH sanding kit. I then played with this and played with that, until I came up with this card. (Don’t you love how creativity works?)
What a beautiful card! Your pumpkins are gorgeous.
