The challenge at Heart 2 Heart this week is to use ribbon. Yes. I said ribbon. Being that ribbon is in my top three of favorite items to use, only behind paper and ink, I feel like quoting Homer Simpson with a “Doh!” (I don’t watch it. Remember, I teach 14 year olds). Out of the 13 projects that I’ve created for H2H, 8 used ribbon and all but one of the rest had some sort of twine, thread or raffia on them. So there’s probably a good chance that I’ll use ribbon on my project…challenge or no challenge. However, we’d love to see you step your project up a notch and use two or more different kinds of ribbon.
The inspiration for my card came from a scrapbook layout I made several years ago that has been one of my favorites ever since. I loved it because I used scraps of ribbon to create a border.
I decided for this creation that I wanted to use the same technique, but with a cas-style card with rainbow colors, which is so trendy right now. This card has 22 knotted-ribbon bows that have been attached with Score Tape (with fabric glue for the seam binding ribbon). Most of the ribbon is from Close To My Heart (all but 7 pieces). Occasionally, I didn’t have a color of ribbon that I wanted, so I used one of my favorite CTMH products….Color-ready Seam Binding…to create my own. I used Vineyard Berry, Lagoon, Amethyst and Gypsy inks to fill in my “color holes”. Doesn’t get easier than that, I tell ya’!
This is my last inspiration project for the Heart 2 Heart Design Team. My tenure with H2H will be over in two weeks. 😦 I’ve thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the wonderful creations, being given the opportunity to recognize the wonderful creators, and on a personal level, having a “schedule” to keep me creating. It’s so easy to let life get in the way of creating time, so having a deadline/schedule really motivates me to create. Since January, I have created 13 projects that I probably wouldn’t have created if it wasn’t for the challenges at Heart 2 Heart. Here’s a quick look back.
As much as I’d love to do it again and hopefully will in the future, it’s now time for some new blood, so to speak. I hope you will warmly welcome the new design team when they are announced, as so many of you did for me. But what about you? Do you work better with deadlines? Would you like to be part of a great team of ladies that provide inspiring art work to CTMH lovin’ paper crafters? Would you like to increase traffic to your blog? Consider applying for a Design Team position for the second half of the year (July-December). If it’s something you would be interested in, just check out the requirements here.
Now it’s your turn. So now I’d love to see how you use ribbon.
Until next time…
